I really enjoyed watching the inauguration today. Well, I really, really enjoyed the snow day. The last snow of any substance around here was back in ’04. Dylan thoroughly enjoyed it and wanted nothing more that to stay out in it.
Being home today allowed me to watch much of the events going on in Washington. I appreciate the traditions and the intended formality of it all. Today I especially appreciated the John Williams’ arrangement of “Air and Simple Gifts” performed by Yo-Yo Ma , Itzhak Perlman , Anthony McGill and Gabriela Montero. I found it quite moving, but I must say that I prefer the ‘simpler’ version of the old Shaker hymn as performed by Richard Hefner with nothing but his Uke to accompany him. Enjoy:
